Professor Noreena Hertz advises some of the biggest organisations and most senior figures in the world on strategy, decision-making and global economics. With a unique integrative approach that combines economics, business strategy and political analysis with psychology and sociology, Noreena helps C-Level executives, government ministers and board members make smarter decisions and better predictions in a complex and confusing world.
Her best-selling books, the Silent Takeover (HarperBusiness, 2003) and IOU: The Debt Threat (Fourth Estate Ltd, 2004), are examples of her own prescient thinking, and have been published in 20 countries. The Silent Takeover correctly predicted the surge of anti-corporate opinion in the early 2000s and the way that this would impact upon business strategy; whilst IOU: The Debt Threat warned of the looming credit crisis, and was published in eighteen languages.
Noreena has served as a member of Citigroup’s Politics and Economics Global Advisory Board. She is currently part of the Advisory Group steering McKinsey CEO Dominic Barton’s Inclusive Capitalism Taskforce.
Noreena’s insights are much sought after on leading current affairs/politics/economics television and radio programmes, and she frequently appears on such flagship programmes as Newsnight and Question Time. She has been interviewed on shows such as the US’s Charlie Rose and Sky’s Hard Talk, as well as equivalent programmes in Europe and Asia.
Her latest book, Eyes Wide Open: How to Make Smart Decisions in a Confusing World (Harper Collins, 2013), weaves cutting-edge research with real world examples to explore how to make confident and wise decisions in a world we find increasingly difficult to understand.
